
A Nationally Kidney Disease Program
Comprehensive clinical treatment of all kidney disease is provided by the Division of Nephrology within the Department of Medicine at UAB and was ranked among the best in the nation in the 2008 U.S. News & World Report "Best Hospitals" issue. This nationally ranked kidney disease program offers a number of different services. Indications for treatment include:
- adrenal cystic disease
- end-stage renal disease
- acute or chronic renal failure
- nephrotic syndrome
- hypo- or hyperkalemia
- hyponatremia
- acid-basis disturbances
- severe hypertension
- kidney stones
