Pediatrics - Critical Care

Pediatric Critical Care provides critical care services to patients with life-threatening diseases of the respiratory, cardiovascular, and neurologic systems, and with multiple organ failure due to disease or injury in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Children's Hospital and the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit at UAB Hospital. Conditions treated include:
  • respiratory failure
  • upper and lower respiratory tract disease
  • circulatory failure
  • coma
  • seizures
  • trauma

    The Critical Care division also supports ground and fixed-wing transport of critically ill or injured children via the services of Critical Care Transport.
