UAB Sports Medicine Clinic

The UAB Sports Medicine Clinic is a department in The Children's Hospital of Alabama and an affiliate of the Division of Orthopaedic Surgery in the Department of Surgery.

UAB Sports Medicine works to prevent sports-related injuries and offers diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of individuals following such injuries. Advances in arthroscopy have led to more accurate diagnosis and more effective and less painful surgical treatment of injuries. The clinic offers both the full array of orthopaedic services and expertise at UAB and a facility outfitted with state-of-the-art equipment.

UAB Sports Medicine is staffed with orthopaedic surgeons, sports medicine specialists, registered physical therapists, certified athletic trainers, and X-ray technicians. The rehabilitation staff are also strength and conditioning specialists.Strength and conditioning specialists are a part of the multidisciplinary staff treating sports injured patients.
UAB Sports Medicine Clinic offers ongoing education and support programs, including:

  • workshops and seminars on injury prevention

  • rehabilitation

  • emergency treatment

  • athletic training

  • experts who are available to address community groups

  • physical examinations to Alabama high school students.
