Since 1968, UAB's transplant services have performed more than 10,000 organ transplants, and we are internationally known. People from all over the world come to UAB, recognized as one of America's top transplant centers. Our transplant services are well-known because of the skill of UAB surgeons and their years of experience.
UAB’s transplant program is one of the busiest in the nation, performing kidney, liver, heart, lung, pancreas and islet cell transplants. With the largest comprehensive program in the Southeastern United States,UAB performs 100 more transplants each year than any other program in the region.

The cardiothoracic pediatric unit provides a comforting homey atmosphere for pediatric patients undergoing cardiothoracic surgery, catheterization, liver and kidney transplants and seizure monitoring.
