There’s a new member in the UAB family: UAB Highlands. Here you’ll find the same world-class medical care you expect from UAB in a convenient and accessible Southside neighborhood setting.

UAB Highlands, which is located at 1201 11th Avenue South in the former HealthSouth Medical Center, joined the UAB Health System in April. The hospital is a complete neighborhood healthcare facility that also will offer the best in orthopaedics, gynecologic oncology, inpatient and outpatient plastic surgery, and related services. UAB Highlands will continue to provide the community with general medicine, a 24-hour emergency room, and inpatient and outpatient surgical services. UAB Highlands also houses the state’s only Gamma Knife®, which is used in neurosurgery.
Other plans include expanded programs and facilities for physical medicine, rehabilitation and occupational medicine, a bone and joint program, sports medicine and outpatient rehabilitation services. The Workplace, a comprehensive injury management and rehabilitation center, has relocated to expanded facilities there.
