The ventricular assist device (VAD) support group was started for patients with VADs and their care givers. The group is patient facilitated. A VAD is implanted to the heart to assist and/or improve blood flow throughout the body. Some qualifying VAD patients are awaiting heart transplantation and some are on the VAD as long-term therapy. The group meets quarterly. Meetings will take place Monday, September 21, 2009 and December 7, 2009 in The Kirklin Clinic 4th Floor Conference Room at 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
