A native of Gadsden, Alabama, Dr. Feist received his undergraduate degree from Birmingham Southern College and his medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine. He completed a pre-residency research fellowship at the Retinal Research Foundation of the South and ophthalmology residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Dr. Feist began his practice in 1993 after a Vitreoretinal Disease and Surgery Fellowship at the University of Iowa.

Dr. Feist is a member of The American Academy of Ophthalmology, Alabama Academy of Ophthalmology, American Medical Association, American College of Surgeons, American Society of Retina Specialists, Association for Research and Vision in Ophthalmology. His major research areas are retinal detachment, diabetic eye disease and macular surgery.
