da Vinci Prostatectomy

da Vinci, a new, cutting-edge surgical system is allowing prostate surgery patients a more precise surgical experience as well as a faster recovery time.

The da Vinci is equipped with a surgeon console and a patient-side robotic device. The doctor has more control of the instruments' arms which allows a full 360 degree movement. Equipped with a high resolution camera, da Vinci provides the surgeon with a clear three-dimensional view of the patient's anatomy.

Prior to the development of the robotic device, da Vinci, surgeons were making a significant incision on the lower abdomen. The da Vinci makes several smaller incisions which minimizes the pain and amount of blood lost during surgery, decreases infection and allows for a quick return to normal day-to-day activities.

The da Vinci surgical system isn't limited to prostatectomy, it can also be used for mitral valve repair, Nissen Fundoplication for the treatment of GERD disease, gastric bypass surgery for obesity, esophageal surgery, thymectomy for myasthenia gravis and epicardial pacemaker leads for biventricular resynchronization.
