Physicians in this unit are well equipped to provide the initial urgent treatment for critically ill patients and those with severe injuries occurring through fire, automobile accidents, industrial or firearm accidents, or mishaps resulting in severe head or spinal cord injuries. They understand the unique needs of Workers Compensation and the employer who has had an employee injured on the job. To meet this need the University Hospital Emergency department (UED) charge nurse will serve as your point of contact.

Once you realize you have an employee that has or is being treated here for an on the job injury please call the UED registration office with the patient's employer, WC contact, claim and billing information as soon as possible. The UED registration office has some one on duty 24/7 to take your calls and information. You may even call and alert the UED that you have an employee on their way.
