Pediatric Hematology/Oncology offers advanced diagnostic and treatment techniques for cancer and hematologic diseases in children and adolescents under the age of 18. In collaboration with Pediatric Immunology and Cytogenetics, the division performs marker studies for pediatric lymphoid malignancies, develops treatment programs for leukemia and solid tumors in children, and evaluates chromosomal abnormalities in leukemias and selected solid tumors. It can often place parents and children in the nearby Ronald McDonald House and is frequently able to perform children's diagnostic workups in a clinic setting rather than having to admit them to the hospital.
