Initial Clinic Visit (GI Cancer)

The true effectiveness of the Multidisciplinary Gastrointestinal Oncology Center revolves around the initial clinic visit.

As a patient, the initial visit to our center can be a long one with several doctor's visits and possibly one or more appointments for diagnostic testing. Ultimately, however, this visit is extremely empowering to you and your family as you leave the clinic with a comprehensive treatment recommendation that allows you to move forward in a confident and proactive way focusing not on unanswered questions but on a cure.

Visit Stages
  1. Prior to your first visit, you will speak on the phone with our Nurse Clinical Coordinator who will discuss your condition with you and answer any questions you may have.

  2. Next, the Nurse Clinical Coordinator will schedule all appropriate diagnostic tests and physician appointments for your initial clinic visit.

  3. On the day of the visit, the Nurse Coordinator will guide you to each of your diagnostic tests and physician appointments.

  4. After meeting with you, all of your doctors will meet together, go over your case, and formulate a comprehensive treatment recommendation for your individual cancer.

  5. Finally, the doctor who will initiate your treatment will present the team's recommendations to you and the Nurse Coordinator will assist you in scheduling your future treatments and/or surgery.
