UAB's Kidney Disease program ranked 15th in U.S.News' "America's Best Hospitals".

Comprehensive clinical treatment of all kidney disease is provided by the Division of Nephrology within the Department of Medicine at UAB, ranked 15th in the nation in the 2007 U.S. News & World Report "Best Hospitals" issue.

 

Indications for treatment include:

  • adrenal cystic disease
  • end-stage renal disease
  • acute or chronic renal failure
  • nephrotic syndrome
  • hypo- or hyperkalemia
  • hyponatremia
  • acid-basis disturbances
  • severe hypertension
  • kidney stones
The UAB Nephrology Program has been ranked one of the best in the country in U.S. News & World Report.
Ready access to a renal transplant program is available through cooperation with the Department of Surgery, Transplantation.
