Vision:
The UAB Palliative Medicine Program will be a leading contributor to the improvement of palliative and supportive care, locally and worldwide, distinguishing itself for leading with scholars' minds and servants' hearts. The Program's efforts will lighten the burden of suffering for patients, their families, their friends, and their communities.

Mission:
The UAB Palliative Medicine Program will achieve its stated vision through development of:

• a program of research aimed at improving palliative and supportive care.
• a comprehensive range of training activities in palliative and supportive care.
• a program of outreach efforts aimed at sharing knowledge, expertise, and resources.
• a network of participatory relationships to involve the community in our work and mission.
• partnerships with other programs providing palliative and supportive care to Alabamians, their families and friends, and their communities.
