The UAB Center is also the first academic center in the country to employ some of the world's most advanced medical technologies in the treatment of arthritis.

Arthritis Center ranks among the world's top arthritis research centers and is the only center in North America designated by the World Health Organization as a collaborating center for the study of rheumatic diseases. In treating patients, the Center brings together highly trained rheumatologists, orthopaedists, physical and occupational therapists, psychologists, social workers, pharmacists, nutritionists, specially trained nurses, and patient educators to work as a team.
