UAB Arthritis and Musculoskeletal Diseases Center

One of the nation's first comprehensive arthritis centers supported by the National Institutes of Health, the Center investigates a variety of new, promising therapeutic agents for use in the treatment of arthritis and related diseases.

The UAB Center is also the first academic center in the country to employ some of the world's most advanced medical technologies in the treatment of arthritis.

The Arthritis Center ranks among the world's top arthritis research centers and is the only center in North America designated by the World Health Organization as a collaborating center for the study of rheumatic diseases. In treating patients, the Center brings together highly trained rheumatologists, orthopaedists, physical and occupational therapists, psychologists, social workers, pharmacists, nutritionists, specially trained nurses, and patient educators to work as a team.
