The
Wellness Through Prevention Program, provided through the Division of Preventive Medicine, is designed to promote health for all individuals. The program has three levels of assessment, including:
basic screening
preventive medicine care evaluation
comprehensive examination
All three levels are designed to assess health risk as well as to reduce such risk through counseling and further evaluation if necessary. All programs include the basic screen, which consitst of:
medical history and family history
computerized health risk appraisal
cholesterol profile
blood pressure, height, weight, and hemocult
In addition to the above, the core evaluation includes physician counseling and a brief physical examination. The comprehensive examination includes a detailed history and physical examination, nutrition counseling, and an exercise prescription.
