This page is being created for my patients and anyone interested in learning more about my practice. I will provide you with answers to frequently asked health questions as well as the policies and guidelines I use in my practice. This is a work in progress. In the future I will be adding more educational links and FAQ's.
Thank you for allowing me to help you with your medical needs. I am committed to providing you the highest quality primary care. I promise to act in your best interest. If I find I cannot help you or find that I may not be the best primary care physician for you, I will tell you directly and help arrange the appropriate referrals. I expect you to take responsibility for your health in making prudent decisions about taking your medications, keeping appointments ( and giving 24 hour notice for cancellations), and making appropriate lifestyle choices. It makes no sense for our team to work hard on your diabetes, hypertension or cholesterol if you don't take your medications, eat right or exercise. No amount of "doctoring" can win against homemade biscuits, sausage gravy and eggs!
Feelings and thoughts powerfully influence our bodies and may affect our health in positive and negative ways. I will be sensitive to such issue. If necessary, I will be ready and willing to refer you to a counselor, therapist or psychiatrist for special help. This does not mean you are "crazy." The strongest patients know and ask for help. Please see my policy on narcotics, sleeping pills, cough suppressants and anti-anxiety medications.
You can explore my views on the mind-spirit-body connection in a collection of essays I have written at Maximal Living.
I look forward to working with you.
