Timothy Stanhope, BSN., CRNP is our nurse practioner. Tim plays a vital role in our practice since he is trained to provide direct medical care. Tim received his BSN from UAB in 1984. He has worked in the Emergency Department and Intensive Care settings for 11 years. Before coming to Kirklin Internal Medicine in 2001, Tim worked in Athens, GA. As the father of three, Tim enjoys spending time with his family in outdoor activities like hiking, camping and biking. Tim will help meet your medical needs by:

• Seeing you for same day appointments for acute problems when my schedule is full. In such situations, Tim always discusses his impressions and treatment plans with me.
• Seeing you for routine follow up checks on chronic conditions, such as diabetes or hypertension, especially if your condition requires frequent checks after adjustment in medications or treatment.
• Tim often functions as my "extra set" of hands. Tim extends my ability to provide care to more people in need.

Vicki Rippy is our medical secretary. She answers the calls during office hours when you call (205) 801-8831. Vickie has worked in Internal Medicine since June 2003. Vickie helps by:

• Taking your messages
• Authorizing refills
• Scheduling work-in and same day appointments
• Scheduling new patient appointments
• Helping decide the best way to fill your requests

Angela McGee, CMA is my medical assistant. Angela helps by:

• Weighing you (Yikes!) and measuring your vital signs.
• Soliciting your reason for coming to see me.
• Helping give injections, doing EKG's, etc.
• Calls in prescriptions and relaying normal test and lab reports
• Putting worried, upset or frightened patients at ease.
