Liver Transplantation

Although the liver is exposed to many potentially harmful substances, it is a remarkable organ that is able to repair damaged or injured tissue. The liver however, can develop diseases that can overwhelm its regeneration abilities, threatening a person's life.

A liver transplant is sometimes indicated in end -stage liver disease, and involves surgical removal of the diseased liver and replacement with a healthy donated liver.
