The center is one of two such centers in the nation that specializes in spinal cord dysfunction.
The
Medical Rehabilitation, Research, and Training Center performs basic research in all areas of spinal cord injury and disease, and offers training to health professionals in rehabilitative practices.
Particular areas of research interest include:
- the neurogenic bladder
- nutritional needs of spinal cord patients
- the formation of heterotopic bone and pain.
The center provides information and training in the area of spinal cord dysfunction and in the care of spinal cord-injured patients.
