Vendor Compliance Education Overview

The UAB Health System (UABHS) is one of the premiere healthcare institutions in the southeast United States. It strives to consistently uphold its reputation for excellence, compassion and innovation as it delivers patient care services, conducts groundbreaking research and educates health care providers. University of Alabama Hospital (the “Hospital”) and the University of Alabama Health Services Foundation (UAHSF), both members of the UAB Health System are also fully committed to the highest standards of excellence, ethics, and integrity in all aspects of professional and business conduct. UAB Health System’s dedication to maintaining these standards is demonstrated not only through the delivery of outstanding health care services, but also through its interactions with employees, physicians, vendors, payers, government officials and the communities it serves.

UAB Health System’s corporate compliance programs support this commitment to ethical conduct by setting forth guidelines designed to prevent and detect violations of law and by providing support, training and educational resources. It is the responsibility of all who are associated with UABHS -- including vendors and business associates, to honor this commitment, and comply with applicable UABHS policies and procedures, as well as legal and regulatory requirements. To that end, Corporate Compliance Vendor Education materials have been developed to enhance vendors’ knowledge of our program operations and applicable compliance issues and requirements. A “vendor” is defined as an individual or entity from which UABHS purchases goods or services. Vendors include, but are not limited to, pharmaceutical companies, medical device companies, accounting firms, legal firms, consulting firms, and hardware and software companies.
