Inaugural event is first hosted by Cancer Center’s Young Supporters Board
This May, Birmingham residents will have the opportunity to celebrate Cinco de Mayo for a cause. The Young Supporters Board of the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center has announced plans for its first-ever event, Fiesta Ball 2007.
This fun-filled, Mexican-themed event will be held Saturday, May 5, 2007, at 8 p.m. at Workplay Theatre. Guests will enjoy live music by The Hurlers as well as Mariachi Band Perla, Mexican food provided by Qdoba, margaritas and beer. All proceeds raised from the evening will go toward patient and family services at the Cancer Center.
Founding sponsors for the Fiesta Ball are Thompson Tractor Company and Harbert Management Corporation. Presenting sponsor is Robinson Adams Insurance, Inc., and event and patron sponsors are Compass Bank and Greer Capital Advisors, LLC, respectively.
Tickets for the event are $35 per person and $50 per couple. They may be purchased at the door or in advance by calling (205) 934-0034. For an extra $25, guests may purchase a Gerber daisy arrangement in honor or memory of a loved one who has battled cancer. These flowers will be displayed during the event.
The Young Supporters Board was established in 2006 and is comprised of Birmingham professionals ages 25 to 34. Their mission is to raise funds and awareness for the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center, the only “comprehensive” cancer center as designated by the National Cancer Institute in a five-state region.
