The Kirklin Clinic® at Acton Road offers groundbreaking cancer care
World-class, compassionate, patient-focused cancer care is available at The Kirklin Clinic® at Acton Road, located just off Interstate 459.
For people living south of Birmingham, the Acton Road clinic offers convenient access to the same renowned interdisciplinary team of physicians, nurses and technicians available at The Kirklin Clinic® at UAB Medical Center District.
The Acton Road clinic offers a range of treatments and services, such as radiation therapy, chemotherapy and computed tomography (CT) scanning, as well as a patient education center.
Patients also have the opportunity to participate in groundbreaking clinical trials or treatments that might not be available elsewhere. The clinic was the first facility in Alabama and is one of only a few in the world to offer a revolutionary new radiation therapy called the TomoTherapyTM HI-ART (Highly Integrated Adaptive Radiotherapy) System®. This system provides 3-D imaging prior to each radiation treatment to identify the specific location of a patient’s tumor. Because a tumor can change shape or position from day to day, this system more precisely targets the treatment, reducing the amount of radiation to surrounding healthy tissue.
