1 (10-ounce) thin Italian bread crust
½ cup pasta sauce
1 tablespoons olive oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 bell pepper, sliced
1 sweet onion, sliced
6 ounces chicken sausage, sliced (such as Gerhard’s)
1 tablespoon chopped fresh oregano or 1 teaspoon dried oregano
salt to taste
freshly ground black pepper
1 cup fresh diced tomatoes
1 cup (4 ounces) shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese
Spread the pasta sauce over the bread shell. Set aside. Heat olive oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add the garlic, bell pepper, onion, sausage and seasonings and sauté until vegetables are cooked and sausage is lightly browned.
Spread vegetable-sausage mixture over bread shell. Spread tomatoes over shell and sprinkle the mozzarella cheese over shell, leaving the edge of the pizza free.
Bake at 400 degrees until browned, about 15 to 20 minutes. Cut pizza into 8 slices.
