Peter E. Dans, MD, will speak at UAB on March 2 from noon to 1 pm during the Center for Outcomes and Effectiveness Research and Education's (COERE) Perspectives in Outcomes Research Seminar series. The seminar will be held in Lecture Room 170, Bevill Biomedical Research Building, 845 19th Street South.
Dr. Dans was director of the Office of Medical Practice Evaluation at Johns Hopkins Hospital from 1978-1991. In 1996, he became an independent consultant specializing in issues related to medical ethics, geriatric pharmacology, and disease management. Dr. Dans also is author of the book, Doctors in the Movies: Boil the Water and Just Say Aah! He is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and a member of Alpha Omega Alpha. In his talk, “From Calcutta to Hopkins: A 30-Year Study of Outcomes and Effectiveness,” Dr. Dans will trace his work, including establishing and directing the Office of Medical Practice Evaluation, one of the first such offices in the country aimed at improving care and decreasing costs.
