Telecommunication Services recently completed replacement of the university’s voice mail system. While the new system retains much of the previous system’s functionality, it also offers features designed to support the campus’s emerging technology needs. Although some navigation prompts have changed, users who know which prompts to select can navigate the system without listening to all menu choices. Users can further streamline the navigation process by using shortcuts provided below.
The new voice mail system is sized to accommodate future growth. It currently hosts more than 12,000 mailboxes and processes approximately 50,000 calls per day, including thousands of calls to automated attendants.

Shortcuts
Once you have logged into your voice mailbox — press 1, then 1 again to bypass instructions. While listening to your messages, you can press:
1 – Save current message before listening to the whole message
2 – Forward the message to another seven-digit number at UAB
3 – Skip to next message
4 – Replay the entire message
5 – Rewind 6 seconds
6 – Fast forward 6 seconds
7 – Delete current message
After listening, you can press:
7 – Delete the message
1 – Save the message
2 – Forward the message
