UAB Quality Commitment & Awards

University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Hospital has been selected as one of America’s most customer-friendly hospitals by the American Alliance of Healthcare Providers.

The UAB School of Medicine has again been ranked among America's best by U.S. News & World Report in its graduate school rankings released March 28, 2008.

The Kirklin Clinic, a member of the UAB Health System, received a Level 2 - Progress Towards Excellence Award during the Alabama Quality Award Annual Conference and Award Ceremony on November 29, 2007.

UAB Hospital again is the only hospital in the Birmingham area to earn a National Research Corporation (NRC) Consumer Choice Award. The award means UAB Hospital is among the nation’s 225 top hospitals in consumer perceptions of quality and image.

Eight UAB Hospital specialty programs are among the nation’s top 50 — seven are in the top 25 — of the 16 categories evaluated at America’s 5,462 hospitals this year by U.S. News & World Report. The rankings appear in the magazine’s 18th annual “America’s Best Hospitals” issue, released July 13, 2007.

The UAB Health System is again one of the 100 most wired hospitals in the nation, marking its seventh year on the prestigious list.

UAB Hospital receives renewed accreditation by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO)

UAB Hospital is one of only 17 in the Southeast, and the only one in Alabama to attain the prestigious Magnet designation for its nursing excellence.
