Rotations

The first 6 months will consist of a flexible series of rotations between University Hospital, The Kirklin Clinic/Health Services Foundation, UAB Health System corporate office, UAB Highlands Hospital, Callahan Eye Foundation Hospital, UAB Medical West Hospital, and Baptist Health. The rotation will provide the fellow equal opportunities of time at each of the entities. The following core competencies for a global perspective of a successful health care organization will guide the focus of the rotation:

·     Governance/Organizational Structure

·     Finance

·     Human Resources

·     Information Technology

·     Quality and Performance Improvement

·     Laws and Regulations

·     Marketing and Strategic Planning

The rotation component of the program is a fundamental element of providing the fellow a foundation by which to understand the management infrastructure of the organization.

 

In addition to familiarizing the fellow with the physical expanse of the institution, the rotations provide the opportunity to meet and form a professional relationship with a cross-functional group of people representing all facets of the organization. This interaction greatly enhances the project work component of the program by providing the fellow a network of peers with which to contact and work.

 

The Fellowship Steering Committee is committed to creating an experience best suited for the particular fellow. Therefore, the nature of the rotation will be driven by the fellow's preferences and interests.
