Mona N. Fouad, MD, and Edward E. Partridge, MD, who head two large UAB research efforts, will be featured speakers at the Second Annual Alabama Black Belt Healthcare Summit being held August 4-5 in Montgomery. The conclave aims to reduce racial disparities in health care.
The two will speak on “What is Working in the Black Belt.” Fouad is director of the UAB Minority Health and Research Center. Partridge is principal investigator for the Deep South Network for Cancer Control.
In addition, UAB Professor John H. Grant III, MD, director of the UAB Cleft and Craniofacial Center will present an overview of that program.
U.S. Surgeon General Richard H. Carmona, MD, will speak at the August 4 noon luncheon of the summit, which is being held at the Embassy Suites Hotel and Convention Center.
Continuing professional education credits are available for physicians, nurses, social workers, educators and other healthcare professionals who attend the meeting.
