UAB Hospital Chief of Staff Cynthia G. Brumfield, MD, has appointed Jose Tallaj, MD, Division of Cardiovascular Disease, as comedical director of the Heart and Lung Transplant Intensive Care Unit (HTICU). David C. McGiffin, MD, Division of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery also is comedical director of the unit.
Dr. Tallaj, who earned an MD degree from Pontificia Universidad Catolica Madre y Maestra, Dominican Republic, completed his internship and residency at Wayne State University, Detroit, completed a fellowship in cardiovascular disease at UAB, and joined the faculty in 2002.
His clinical and research interests include advanced heart failure, cardiac transplantation, and pulmonary vascular disease.
