UAB Hospital Chief of Staff Cynthia G. Brumfield, MD, MSHA, announces the appointment of Donna E. Salzman, MD, associate professor of medicine in the Division of Hematolology and Oncology, as UAB Hospital associate chief of staff.
Dr. Salzman is charged with implementing the clinical arm of the Blood Management Program. She also will cochair the Blood Utilization/Manage-ment Committee with Marisa Marques, MD, pathologist and medical director, UAB Hospital blood bank.
Dr. Salzman received her MD degree as well as her postdoctorate training at Louisiana State University. At UAB, Dr. Salzman serves as director of education and clinical services for the Bone Marrow Transplantation (BMT) Program and medical director of the BMT unit. She served as the principal preparer for the accreditation and inspection application process for the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellu-lar Therapy, an inspection process for BMT programs similar to The Joint Commission inspection process for hospitals.
