UAB Professor and Chair of the Department of Pediatrics Sergio Stagno, MD, announces the appointment of Timothy G. Beukelman, MD, as assistant professor of pediatrics specializing in rheumatology.

A graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, Dr. Beukelman completed an internship and residency in pediatrics at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. He completed his fellowship in pediatric rheumatology at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia while earning a master of science degree in clinical epidemiology.

Dr. Beukelman received the Ruth L. Kirchstein National Research Service Award from the NIH in 2005 to support his master’s thesis research on the treatment of monoarthritis in children.

Dr. Beukelman’s broad research interest is optimizing treatment of pediatric rheumatologic conditions.
