New Wilderness Medicine Program Holds First Course
UAB’s Department of Emergency Medicine is building a program in wilderness medicine. The first offering, an Advanced Wilderness Life Support (AWLS) course, will be held April 11 to 13 at Mt. Cheaha Park Lodge, a location that provides immediate access to outdoor teaching in a wilderness setting.
The Wilderness Medical Society designates this educational activity for a maximum of 17.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Conversations Over Coffee
“Conversations Over Coffee,” a morning seminar for senior faculty (associate and full professors) will meet Tuesday, April 8. Rebecca J. Gordon, School of Medicine executive director of development, will discuss “Beyond Grants: How to Find Financial Support for Your Projects.” The seminar meets the second Tuesday of each month from 7:30 to 8:45 am in the Pittman Center for Advanced Medical Studies at 1924 7th Ave S. The School of Medicine and the Health System jointly host Med-Link the first Thursday of each month at the Pittman Center for Advanced Medical Studies at 1924 7th Ave S. This casual meeting is an opportunity for faculty from the Joint Health Sciences, School of Medicine, and Health System to meet in a relaxed atmosphere after work for collegiality and refreshments (soft drinks, open bar, and snacks).
