Johnson Achieves Medical Practice Executive Status

UAB Synopsis, Vol. 27, No. 13, April 7, 2008

Valerie L. Johnson, CMPE, business officer for the UAB Montgomery and Selma campuses, has earned the professional designation of Certified Medical Practice Executive (CMPE) from the American College of Medical Practice Executives (ACMPE). The designation demonstrates that Johnson has achieved board certification in medical practice management.

Based on extensive testing and educational requirements, ACMPE certifies an individual’s professional competence and knowledge of the broad scope of medical practice management skills, including financial, human resources, planning and marketing, information management, risk management, governance and organizational dynamics, business and clinical operations, and professional responsibility.

Johnson joined UAB in 1992 as a clerical assistant and now is administrator for both the Montgomery Internal Medicine Residency Program and the Selma Family Medicine Residency Program. She earned her bachelors degree in business administration from Faulkner University. She joined the Medical Group Management Association in 2002 and served as Montgomery chapter president for two terms.
