Wyatt and Susan Haskell Endowed Professorship

The University of Alabama Board of Trustees recently established the Wyatt and Susan Haskell Endowed Professorship for Medical Excellence in the School of Medicine at UAB.

The board appointed Casey T. Weaver, MD, professor of pathology, to the post.

Life-long residents of Birmingham, Susan and Wyatt Haskell are well known leaders, community volunteers, and ardent supporters of quality medical education and the arts.

Wyatt R. Haskell specializes in public finance and local government law and is a senior partner at the Birmingham office of Haskell, Slaughter, Young, and Rediker, LLC. His community service activities include serving as president of Birmingham Ballet, president of the Birmingham Music Club, and as a member of the board of directors of the Alabama Shakespeare Festival, the Alabama Symphony Association, and the Birmingham Museum of Art. He is founder of the Samuel Ullman Foundation and a substantial contributor to the Samuel Ullman Museum.

He is a member of the UAB Leadership Cabinet, Alys Robinson Stephens Performing Arts Center Advisory Board, Blazer Club, and the Comprehensive Campaign Committee of 100. He also served as president of the Friends of Psychiatry.

Susan N. Haskell serves on the board of directors of Children’s Hospital and the Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham, as well as the board of trustees of the Cahaba River Society, Freshwater Landtrust, Highlands School, and The Altamont School, where she also serves on the alumni board and was named the 2007 Distinguished Alumna of The Brooke Hill School, one of Altamont’s legacy schools.

Active with the Big Brothers Big Sisters program, the Haskells were 2001 Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Birmingham honorees at its annual award dinner.
