About the Multidisciplinary Gastrointestinal Oncology Center

Welcome to the Multidisciplinary Gastrointestinal Oncology Center at The University of Alabama at Birmingham Comprehensive Cancer Center.

UAB Health System's Multidisciplinary Gastrointestinal Oncology Center was formed as part of The Kirklin Clinic in November, 2001 in order to provide the highest possible quality of care to patients with all forms of gastrointestinal cancer.

At our center, our patients are treated by a highly skilled team of medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, and surgeons. Here our doctors work together in a cooperative fashion to formulate an unbiased, individualized, comprehensive treatment plan for each of our patients on the day of their initial clinic visit.

Patients at the Multidisciplinary Gastrointestinal Oncology Center have access to all of UAB's vast resources, from world-class doctors, to state-of-the-art medical facilities and diagnostic procedures, to numerous experimental treatments, all of which are unrivaled in the state of Alabama and the entire southeastern United States.

Mission - The mission of the Multidisciplinary Gastrointestinal Oncology Center at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital is to provide the highest quality of cohesive, comprehensive, and efficient care to gastrointestinal cancer patients within the state of Alabama and throughout the Southeastern U.S. through compassion, teamwork, research, and communication between all doctors, patients, and family members.
