Unique in Alabama and matched by only a few institutions in the country, the UAB Multidisciplinary Comprehensive Diabetes Clinic (MCDC) simplifies diabetes care for patients and provides the benefit of top research and translational medicine. The clinical arm of UAB's Comprehensive Diabetes Center, the MCDC offers the expertise and compassion of UAB's top specialists in a single, comprehensive visit. Patients are able to see several specialists in one location in one day.
Comprehensive Care for Type 1 and 2 Diabetes
Located on the first floor of The Kirklin Clinic, the MCDC offers care to type 1 and type 2 diabetics. It also creates a continuum of care for young patients as they outgrow the pediatric clinic at Children's Hospital. Services include 1-day multi-specialty evaluations, after which a comprehensive clinic note is provided to each patient and their referring physician.
Diabetes Clinic Team Members
Backed by the cutting edge research of UAB's Comprehensive Diabetes Center, the MCDC brings together the particular skills and experience of a number of health professionals to provide complete and individualized care. During the clinic visit, patients are evaluated by the Registered Dietician/Certified Diabetes Educator, endocrinology, ophthalmology, orthopaedic surgery, and other specialties as needed. Social workers are also available for consults.

From I-65 north: Exit onto 8th Avenue South (Exit 259), which also is called University Boulevard. Continue straight for nine blocks, then turn left on Richard Arrington Jr. Blvd. (21st Street). Turn right on 5th Avenue South. Turn right again on 22nd Street and right on 6th Avenue South.
From I-65 south: Exit onto 4th Avenue South (Exit 259B). Proceed straight for 10 blocks, then turn right on 22nd Street. Go two blocks, turning right on 6th Avenue South.
From I-20/59 south: Exit onto I-65 south. Exit I-65 onto 4th Avenue South (Exit 259B). Proceed straight for 10 blocks, then turn right on 22nd Street. Go two blocks, turning right on 6th Avenue South.
From Highway 280: Exit right onto University Boulevard, which is also called 8th Avenue South. Proceed straight for four blocks, then turn right on Richard Arrington Jr. Blvd (21st Street). Go three blocks, turning right on 5th Avenue South. Turn right again on 22nd Street and right on 6th Avenue South.
