1. Remember Patient Care comes first
2. Ensure area is neat and tidy
3. Clean hallways and push approved items to one side. (Computers are acceptable if you are currently providing care.)
4. Check for opened cups and food in the patient care area
5. Ensure staff wears appropriate attire and Badges are visible.
6. Ensure staff have Red Rules and Yellow badges
7. Check temperature logs
8. Check crash carts logs
9. Preventive Maintenance Stickers – check expiration dates and contact Biomed for repairs
10. Patient Nourishment Room- Check for cleanliness and expired items
11. Medication Room- Check for discrepancies on the Pyxis; ensure all meds are secure
12. Supply Room- Check 18 inch rule
- IV bags must be in plastic wrapper or dated
- Remove items from the floor
- Check for expired reagents/supplies
13. Soiled utility room – Tidy and void of clean items. Remove items from the floor. Be sure sink is accessible and clean.
14. Store equipment/supplies in their proper place
15. Secure patient information
16. Use proper hand hygiene
17. Cover linen
18. Ensure oxygen tanks are full and stored properly
19. Cover/clean respiratory cart
20. Know how to activate Unit Call Tree
21. Ensure patient records are filed appropriately
22. Ensure staff prepared to discuss PI projects conducted on their unit
23. Know Fire Plan: (CARE and PASS) Be able locate pull boxes
